You should book your own accommodation\, other meals and tickets for attractions. This document outlines some of the options but you will need to do your own research. \n\n\n\nAGM attendance – via the AOA\n\n\n\nPlease let us know if you intend to come to the AGM (this is separate to the drinks and dinner later on Saturday evening). You can do this by using the ‘Notice of AGM and Return’ form circulated with the Bulletin or on the ‘AGM and Dinner Booking Form’ once it is available. Please let us know as early as possible and certainly by Sunday 6th April. \n\n\n\nSaturday Drinks and Dinner – via the AOA\n\n\n\nThe arrangement with Medway Yacht Club requires us not notify them two weeks in advance of the names and menu choices of our party.  You must order and pay for your dinner by Sunday 6th April and as early as possible please. BOOKING IS NOW CLOSED. \n\n\n\nDockyard Entry\n\n\n\nPlease buy your own tickets at https://buy2.myonlinebooking.co.uk/historicdockyardchatham/sessions.aspx?tid=92. It is cheaper to buy in advance on the website than on the gate.  The individual and family tickets are valid for one year from the day you first use them. A ticket will give you access all over the weekend and for the next year! There are a host of discounts offered too. For example carers\, residents of the Medway Towns\, Armed Forces\, English Heritage Members\, and Museum Association members.(We did investigate a Group Booking but the tickets are valid only for one day which did not suit the event.) \n\n\n\nHotels\, Campsites or other Accommodation\n\n\n\nPlease book your own accommodation.  The Committee are basing themselves around the Travelodge just outside the Dockyard. Other options are included below and there are many more. \n\n\n\nBe warned – the more times a particular date is viewed on hotels the more likely is that their pricing algorithms start to increase the price. Select your hotel without looking at the specific date and then dive in and book. \n\n\n\nOther attractions\n\n\n\nWe suggest that people pay for these on the day\, according to how events evolve. The list of attractions below includes websites where you can research prices and opening times. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Attractions\n\n\n\n(Back to the top) \n\n\n\nAn overview of the attractions. Please use this form for Officer Nominations and suggested Agenda Items. \n\n\n\nThe main topic for discussion will be ideas about changes to AOA activities to strengthen it for the coming years and protect the remaining boats. These topics have been outlined in the 2023-24 Annual Bulletin and ideas will be circulated before the AGM to promote the discussion. We would like to grow the number of boats in use and attract new owners. The AOA also need funds to actively help owners sail and maintain their boats. To achieve these requirements we must ‘spread the word’ that Atalantas exist\, why they are great boats to own and sail\, that we can help buy and maintain one and how people can support our work. Currently\, the AOA is focused mainly on talking to existing members\, with some public exposure through the AOA website and to a small extent the boating press. We are proposing to strenghthen our communication to the wider boating public through social media and the press. \n\n\n\n\nLocations\n\nClick on this link to see a Google Map with the three main locations. \n\n\n\n\n\nBooking Form\nReturn Form – please complete the simple online form below\, or email sec@atalantaowners.org directly. DESCRIPTION:Following on from the 2022 Cruise In Company we are planning the very first Duckling World Championships. \nThese are open to anyone. We will be publicising this through all available Ducking channels including the Fairey Owners Club. \nThe event will be hosted by Alistair Currey and include a lot of fun and some ‘serious’ sailing.\nThe location will have camping / motorhome facilities and an excellent all tide slipway. \nMore details to follow but put it in your diary. \nTo whet your appetite see this video showing the launch of two Ducklings in 2016 on classic yacht.tv. The photo at the head of this post is taken from this video.

SUMMARY:2022 AOA Cruise in Company on the Solent
DESCRIPTION:Following on from the Uffa Fox 2022 event in Cowes it is planned to have an AOA Cruise in Company on the South Coast. This will be a flexible event\, tailored by the participants. It is intended to sail from 21 August 2022 – 26 August 2022\, and we might visit some of: Newtown\, Yarmouth\, Keyhaven\, Lymington\, Buckler’s Hard\, Hamble\, and as much of Chichester Harbour as the time\, tides and weather allows\, including Dell Quay\, Birdham Pool & Itchenor. \nWe plan to sail as a fleet and stay overnight in company\, where possible. In particular it is intended to have a photo shot at MDL Hamble\, our birthplace\, and for some boats\, this will be the first time they have returned there since leaving the Fairey sheds in 1955-1960.\nTwo boat owners have already confirmed interest: Mike Dixon – A1 Atalanta & Richard James – A89 Colchide. \nWe also hope to see many of the South Coast based boats and maybe some from further afield? \nPlease respond to Richard James if you are interested in joining us on the 2022 AOA Cruise in company.\nPlease email sec@atalantaowners.org or comment on this event.

We are very hopeful that nothing will get in the way of a convivial day by the river but are constantly monitoring the Covid-19 situation. \nThe club has good road and public transport links and perhaps the best thing about The Tamesis Club is that it’s a sailing club\, so the atmosphere is perfect for us. All those who have attended previously have really enjoyed the day. \nAs in 2019 we plan to extend the social aspects of the day with afternoon tea.\nThe Commodore and Committee hope that you as many members as possible will come along. \nThe AGM and Lunch are open to all\, Member or not. \nProvisional timeline for the day:\n1130-1215 – Arrival coffee\n1220 – Lunch\n1300 – Annual General Meeting\nNext –  Presentation of Annual Trophies\n1500 –  Afternoon Tea \nTea and coffee will be available\, free of charge\, throughout the day.\nThe Tamesis Club bar will open over lunch and their refreshments are competitively priced. \nLunch Booking\n£15 per head\, please contact us using the ‘Contact’ form at the foot of the page. \nTravel and Parking\nThe Tamesis Club has ample free parking\, good rail and road links and is ideally situated for most\nmembers. There is a public car park next door which is suitable for camper van overnight stays. If any\nmembers need transport from local railway stations or airports\, please contact the AOA Sec. \nFor those not familiar with The Kingston-Upon-Thames area\, it is south east of Heathrow airport\, west of\nRichmond Park and just north of Kingston-Upon-Thames at TW11 9QY. SUMMARY:2021 Southampton Boatshow
DESCRIPTION:With thanks the the Organisers and particularly to efforts of the late John Goode we are exhibiting in the ‘Owners Associations’ section of the Southampton Boatshow in 2021.  This had been organised for 2020 but was cancelled due to Covid-19. \nThe ‘Owner Association’ stand was a new idea in 2019 to encourage active boat communities publicise boating and their own activities. See the 2019 details. \nWe will need volunteers to manage the ‘stand’ for a few hours. We will work up a rota to ensure that we spread the load. A benefit of agreeing to do this will be free entry to the Boatshow so don’t be shy. Please contact Mike Dixon if you are willing to take part for a day. \nWatch this space for more details as the ideas develop…….
