This year I opted for the Dell Quay Sailing Club lift-out instead of recovery on the trailer.

Some pictures of Elle being lifted on her own internal strops. The mast was lowered on the mooring on Friday using the main sheet method so the single-handed mast lowering was very controlled. The next morning motored the boat around  to the club alongside Dell Quay pontoon and rafted up with  other members boats.

Dell Quay Sailing Club has an annual lift-out event over a couple of days of high spring tides – this year was 19th October. The club hires crane and crew – a team of club volunteers run the operation on the ground. Evening bar and morning breakfast is laid on  for members overnighting before the lift.

The photos show the lift out; Elle’s mast is in the club mast storage – until next year’s lift-in  scheduled for March 2025.

Just caught up with these pictures.
Such a great way of lifting, using the three-part strop.
And from the photographs, you could almost image they were designed to be dropped from aircraft ……

    1. During the lift – overheard comments of a couple of observers wondering about the strength of the 60+ year old lifting points- I confidently reassured them on the structural. Integrity – not sure if they were convinced though!
