Cracking on with the engine extraction – by a dint of pure luck a crane arrived at my next door neighbours house and the princely sum of £20 and a bit of charm, I had my engine lifted out! Managed to take off all the strange ‘scaffolding’ on the end of the propshaft, but it’s not going to fit with my Aquadrive – so looking now at new stern tube and propshaft set up as well as having to create a bulkhead for the Aquadrive to go into. Unlike a driveshaft the prop ‘pushes’ the Aquadrive on its mounting rather than the engine – helps the gearbox longevity as well as making life easier for installing engine.
Fortunately I have a nice deep engine bay that’ll easily accomodate the Beta 14 – I will need to have a think about where the fuel tank goes.
However, my progress is glacial and I have recently been diagnosed with a problem where I am compelled to go to work Mon-Fri and not spend time working on the boat. It’s not a new syndrome but it’s called “Notyetretireditis..”. A crippling condition that impacts Atalanta owners of a working age…
A watery / oily bilge
Ignore the hyd fluid and water... I need to reduce this gap to accept the Beta 14 which is narrower

Nice and deep - 3 inches clear from top of Beta 14

Finally removed the structure holding it in place - alas the end bit does not come off so looking at a new set up 🙁

Not enough space/clearance to fit my Aquadrive -
