I popped by to help ready Helene for final fitting out tasks – putting her ‘in the air’ for work inside the keelboxes on the new posts at the rear.
It is both humbling and delightful when a prized possession you have passed on is taken to new heights of care by the new owner.
I thought that I had looked after Helene well, and that she was aesthetically up there with the best Atalantas. This may or may not have been true, but she is truly magnificent under Jim’s care.
Not only has he completely upgraded the paint and varnish finishes and sorted issues he has carried out thoughtful enhancements in tune with her aesthetics. You will have read previously about his ’tiller hold’ on the website. But my favourite has got to be the dog kennel for when the crew includes a Chihuahua, Shih Tzu,Pug or French Bulldog. The kennel has direct access to the cockpit via its own ‘personal’ door for those essential duties. And of course they come out over the keelbox gratings for maximum tidiness.
And Jim has thought of everything. When the crew does not includ small dogs the kennel can be converted in a moment to a place to store the fenders, accessible from the cockpit without limbo-ing under the main horse.
Thank you Jim
