Much loved Atalanta. Selling as part of my late father-in-law’s estate.
Last registered 2000.
Not been sailed since the beginning of COVID-19.
Will try to detail as much as I can but I am no expert on the Atalantas and only have the knowledge I have from crewing on her.
Firstly. The boat is laid up in Glasson Sailing Club and will need to be moved at the buyer’s expense. The trailer it is sitting on is not roadworthy.
All parts are with the boat to enable it to sail but it is in need of some restoration and TLC.
What I know.
Mast – Main mast. a new mast was made in the last few years by my father-in-law (he was a pattern maker and worked with wood for many years so had all the skills to do this correctly).
Boom & rudder – Currently in storage in Manchester but we can either arrange to get it to the boat or the buyer, whichever works out best.
Sails – Full set of sails all in working order. some extra sails (apologies, I don’t know what they all are !)
Engine – Was replaced approximately 20 years ago with a new Yanmar. runs well but again, sorry, don’t know any more than this.
Other parts – Again, apologies for lack of knowledge here but all ‘other’ parts are with the boat, battery, lights, rigging, anchor, chain, mooring ropes, and fenders. Everything is there.
Keels – lifting keels work well.
Maintenance – The boat has been maintained well over its lifetime.
I do know that the boat has a water ingress problem which will need further investigation. We always suspected it was below the waterline around the galley area. This was on the ‘to-do’ list before my father-in-law fell ill and will need further investigation by the buyer to make things fully watertight.
It sails but this needs looking at.
Price – £1000, removal at buyer’s expense. We will of course arrange to be with you at the club when you move it to assist as much as possible.
Lifting strops are with boat.
