Thirteen of us met up in Dundee: George, Estelle and Morag from A147 Chamois; Bernard from A66 Sassi; Jonathan from A183 Bluster; Mike and Sheila from A1 Atalanta; Greg from A142 Sugar Plum, Ted and Sharon from A148 Johara; and ex-owners Dom, XX and Nick.
A rough estimate at the end of the meal indicated that the assembly represented roughly two hundred years of Atalanta ownership, with at least one hundred and forty years in commission.
A great time was had by all. We started with an excellent light lunch in the V&A museum. The very large building is home to a lot of light and air but recommended for the views and cafe alone. Then a couple of hours giving RSS Discovery a thorough survey, marvelling at the original construction and the sensitive restoration representing how she may have been on her Antarctic expeditions. Exhausted, afternoon was taken in the cafe in the V&A.
The day was capped off by an excellent dinner in the dining room of the Royal Tay Yacht Club. The views over the Tay were magnificent.
Thanks to Greg for all the organisation.
Windermere Jetty Museum
On the way from East Anglia and the Midlands a small team popped in to enjoy again the delights of the Windermere Jetty Museum. Many of you will remember the excellent virtual visit we made during lockdown in 2020.
