The Association was formed in 1958 by Fairey Marine and forty-three boat owners and the first Annual Bulletin was produced by them in the Autumn of 1959. From the start, the Bulletins were augmented with one or two Newsletters each year to keep Members informed about events and all things AOA. Newsletters were fairly perfunctory notifications of races and AGM until 1975 when Major General Bill Odling took over and they became longer with more ‘News’.
September 2024-2029
Newsletters issued prior to Summer 2024 were written to be read by Members only and the approach to personal privacy was based on this.
Since then, the Newsletters have been written for a wider audience, with appropriate treatment of personal information.
For this reason Newsletters prior to September 2024 remain restricted to AOA Members.
