A124 All done.
-
A124 It looks really neat without any mess to clear up. And it is waterproof!

A124 It looks really neat without any mess to clear up. And it is waterproof!
-
A124 Longer bolts were used around the frame to initially compress the tape so that the correct (short) bolts could be inserted.
-
A124 The bronze frames with the closed cell tape stuck on. So much cleaner than mastic.
-
A124 Fitting long bolts through the frames to compress the tape to allow the short machine screws to be fitted.

A124 Starboard toe-rail replaced, Matterhorn White paint hardened, so time to apply the deck paint.

-
A124 And finally the deckpaint
-
A124 Engine painted up, using Ferguson tractor grey as it was so much cheaper than the Yanmar paint!
-
A124 Old army cooking pan re-purposed as drip tray
-
A124 Cooked perspex, plug and old window.
-
A124 Perspex is heated in the over for the correct time (depends on grade of perspex) and then placed over the plug.
-
A124 The plugs were made out of plaster of paris. I used silk fabric between the plug and perspex to ease removal but this left a very fine ‘weave’ on some of the windows.
-
A124 The old window was used to create a plug in plaster of paris on a plywood base.

A124 Its coming….
-
A124 I used the Easy Fair only to remove the worst indentations / staple holes. I did not want to end up with large areas covered with filler, despite the flexibility of cured Easy Fair.
-
A124 The deck was then faired with EasyFair S resin by Reactive Resins. This is a marvellous product – it sticks tenaciously to most surfaces and especially to wood, and is a delight to sand.

A124 The scaffold ‘barn’ proved useful as an engine hoist
-
A124 The cockpit floor was removed so that the engine could be taken out.

-
A124 Ready for finishing. After sanding the entire deck was treated to many coats of saturating epoxy (SP Eposes). This was applied until the wood was absorbing no more.
-
A124 A124 Fairing off the heavily reinforced blister
-
A124 A124 The new quadrant was scarfed to the old where the latter was still sound.
-
A124 New reinforcing / anti slip battens being added
-
A124 The damaged port quarter being tidied up
-
A124 Fairing off
-
A124 Laminating finished, time to replace the missing hatch rail and deck stiffeners.

A115 A115 Trailer – very good condition rated 3500kgs
-
A124 On the port side the issue was mainly delimitation of the top layer. In two places the second layer was also rotten, and the join to the ‘king plank’ had come unglued.
-
A124 A124 Blister king plank complete. Top veneer removed either side of new king plank and veneer glued over the top to cover the joins.
