Made a mtg for the python drive from 19mm Ply /Mahogany and 2.5 mm A4 stainless..
A new propshaft from Clements engineering made from Duplex
with couplings for conversion from 3/4″to Python drive. Furlough work sadly coming to an end back to work on the 6th April. I will try and get the Iroko engine bearers fitted before my return to work. At least I can weld up the water and fuel tanks when back.. Roll on Summer.
Anyone know of an Atalanta moored in St Mawes Harbour in 1964 just seen it on Murder Ahoy a film staring
Margeret Rutherford as Miss Marple.
Just about to fit Iroko Engine bearers I discovered the forward bulkhead was only
1/2 “ply so out with the chisel removed the vertical bearer mtg blocks removed all paint on bulkhead .Out with cardboard roughed out a template transferred to hard board fitted in place added extra where needed then transferred to 18mm marine ply from Robbins timber. Making new vertical mtgs today
Then will glue on with new glue..Overkill rather this than the engine break loose..
Also repaired original fuel tank
having removed the paint there was a 1 inch hole in the top so using my newly acquired Bugatti restoration skills I shaped a round plate to cover the hole drilled and blind riveted the plate on having already soldered a 1/4 bsp union in the top for a fuel return.
A little more Work on Diaphony
bearers cut to length and angled
for Engine alignment
Nick its just after the start of film its in between the Battledore and St Mawes Harbour
can’t miss it it feature through the film
Shiny! Shiny!
That is a very handsome piece of kit! Handsomely installed too!
Fascinated by the glimpse of an Atalanta in ‘Murder Ahoy’ – how far into the film / details of scene please and we can do some investigation.
Cheers
Nick
