Atalanta Lifting Slings

The Atalanta was designed with built in lifting brackets which enabled the boat to be lifted with the weight taken largely by the strong central bulkhead and keel structure. Two were bolted to the keel structure plates on the bulkhead in the galley/chart table area and the third bolted through the hog/keel in the aft-cabin. The brackets and strops are detailed in drawing A24713, available to all AOA Members.

The benefits of lifting with this method were mentioned in the 2019-20 Bulletin as they are still used by A142 Sugar Plum, on the right below. The other picture below is of A89 Colchide. Using the strops avoids the need for spacer bars on strops and the scuffing of topsides by slings.
