A166 Hullabaloo for sale on eBay

Up for grabs is my Fairey Atalanta A166 Hullabaloo, lying at Portland, Dorset. She is in need of TLC but after a dry out undercover, a strip back and refinish topsides and in the cabins, she’ll be good. Other minor jobs, replace the rubbing strakes and the tops of the fore and aft hatches, very basic wood work. If I could keep her, I would replace the engine in her as it is a single cylinder diesel and is not an appropriate engine for the boat.

She was in good order until three years ago when I had a serious accident at work. I was incapacitated for the best part of a year which was then followed by the long illness and death of my father. Consequently I have been unable to spend the time on her that she needs and now, having the care of my disabled mother, I cannot spend any time on her and unfortunately she must go.

She has a full suit of sails, main and working jib usable but worn, but the rest are in very good order. The mast is partially stripped and needs finishing. Rigging is reasonably good but it could do with a new topping lift, which is an easy job. The rudder is old and it could do with another one cutting but as this is from a flat sheet of marine grade aluminium, again, this is a simple job.

Listed at £0.99 as I need her to go. All yard fees paid, pick her up and take her on, a nice project for someone, sail-able this spring if you can spend a bit of time on her. Lift and transport can be arranged through the yard. She’s a light boat, 1.9 tonnes, so a pick up with a Hiab and lift off is straightforward. She has wooden blocks for a cradle . Could also be used as unusual Air B’n’B accommodation somewhere as she sits low to the ground. Sleeps 5 in two cabins. Space for a chemical caravan camping toilet forward and a cooker on gimbals opposite the chart table which would serve as a very useful food prep area if used for the guest accommodation option. She has loads of storage space on board, lockers everywhere. If you are local to Dorset I will be very willing to help with her if required. The picture on the water were taken a couple of years ago before my accident, however, it wouldn’t take too much to return her to this condition.
