We have a beautiful working model of Atalanta 22 that we would like to pass on to someone who would appreciate her. The boat is 39 inches long and built of mahogany. We remember sailing her on the local gravel pits when we were children, as well as sailing the original in the 1950s and 60s.

We want to be able to give a generous donation to the RNLI in memory of our Dad, who sailed all his life and died last year aged 98 years old. The model can be picked up (in return for a donation) from either Emsworth, Hampshire or Seaford, East Sussex.

    From the Burgess family

I love this model. Your father must have spent many hours making it. And it has lifting keels and rudder too!
There can’t be any other crews who have sailed a full size and a one-eight scale Atalanta.
I am now envisaging a one-eighth scale radio controlled Series 1 Land Rover and a trailer to pull it around the car park before launching for a sail.
Thank you for posting it here.

Dinah, thank you for offering the model through the AOA website.

A22m is now entered on the Atalanta Register so that we can collate memories of her and record her voyages into the future.
A22m Mary Jane of Moreton will be at the weekend in Chatham Historic Dockyard and at the AGM – come along and see her, she really is worth seeing.
