Does anyone have experience of forming a Charitable Trust?

This is just an idea, which started out of looking at the growing number of Atalantas on our Boats for Sale list, as well as receiving occasional news of boats that may have deteriorated past the point of no return. I think we could do more to halt the attrition of our much-loved boats if we had:

a) A place (or places) for people to meet up and work on restoration

b) A charitable body to receive donations of money or boats, and sell fully restored Atalantas

c) Skilled craftsmen willing to give some of their time to training younger (or maybe not so young) apprentices

The Dunkirk Little Ships Restoration Trust has similar aims, and their “History” page almost perfectly describes our own situation.
