Perer Crane and I are planning to cruise in southern Ireland this summer. I mean “IN”. Any other Atalanta Owners want to join us with their boats? There will be room for crew to join for specific periods as well.
The plan so far (if it is a plan rather than a proposal):
Irish Trip Plan first draft
Objective
To cruise through the Irish canals and sail on the Shannon waterway. The proposal is for a one way trip across the Irish Sea, into the canals at Waterford, up the Barrow navigation, along the Grand Canal to the Shannon. Hopefully, to be able to sail in the lakes along the Shannon Waterway. There is no fixed itinerary since the boats are going to be lifted onto their trailers at the end of the trip and return to Wales on the ferry. Note that we do not have to travel fixed distances each day – we just go as far as we go. The following plan is based on travelling 12 miles per day.
Trip to Canal entrance
Leave Milford Haven Sunday 15th July for Solva or direct to Kilmore Quay
Solva / Milford to Kilmore 65 miles
Roughly 38 miles from Kilmore to First lock
Enter Barrow Navigation and head north.
Barrow Navigation

Ferry particulars
Provisional idea for pricing ferry:
Car and empty trailer Pembroke to Rosslare 22 August 14.45 sailing
Roughly £185 single
Car and loaded trailer Rosslare to Pembroke 30 August 08.45 sailing
Roughly £264
So a total ferry price of £448 which requires £150 worth of Tesco vouchers
Rosslare to Limerick is 125 miles by road.
