Hope everyone is enjoying the fitting out weather….

It would be great to get as many people as possible along to the East Coast Race and Rally over the August Bank Holiday. As most of you will know this is an opportunity for Atalantas to meet up in the excellent location of West Mersea and then have a fun race on the Saturday as part of the West Mersea Regatta amidst a host of Smacks, Bawleys, classic yachts and modern racers.  The West Mersea Regatta team hold a race specifically for Atalantas.

After the racing, the Regatta moves ashore with stalls and festivities including sculling races, swimming races, greasy poles and all that Regatta-jazz. 

And then Mike and Sarah Thorley of Rakia, who are based on Mersea Island, put on a great Fish and Chip supper in the local Scout Hut for members arriving by Boat or road.

I am also hoping that we may be able to get a few days sailing in company after the Regatta weekend around the waters of the Blackwater / Colne and perhaps even the Walton Backwaters……
