I remember Bill Perkes met him once in Weymouth circa 1978-80
I think he sold Sherpa to buy a Ohlson 8.8 from memory I have in the loft his self steering gear and the plans..I think he broke a rudder or keel on the Round Britain race Faireys dispatched a new one to him up north.
simonParticipantNick I have given my man Mr Whippet the dimensions and a photo of the font he has made a dummy plate out of alloy and the results are very impressive . I will post a photo later..It can even be aged the brass so it looks the part..I know Mike has had 5x made.Not wishing to tread on anyones toes I will keep this one for A5.

simonParticipantYes It is correct A5 was planing down wind surfing waves , keels were half down with the spinnaker..Diaphony had a sumlog fitted which I believe went up to 12 knots and was on its stop the boat stil surging a head but the most memorable sight was the look of Horror on my father’s face..
We really did break out of forced mode that day.
